Faiths: Who to believe.......
"Seeds of faith are always within us; sometimes it takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth."
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
The basic concepts of all major religions are the same ,there is one superpower who is in charge of the universe. Be good
and do goods and you will be rewarded and if you do the opposite you will be severely punished unless God forgives you.
Now how God looks like or God's origin is very different depending on the religion you choose and there are differences
within the same faith making it very difficult to choose. Most people stick to the religions they were born in and finds guidence and peace especially when they are at great stress. And now is one of the most stressful times of our civilization. There is starvation in the midst of plenty, poverty of money, poverty of knowledge, poverty of moral values, pornography in the name of freedom of expression, nudity, deceptions etc. is causing great deal of unhappiness. The media is only for money and has lost its social obligations causing enormous damage to our children,s psyche, there development, education, Violences etc. also are being shown
without considering their impacts on our children too. Parents often do not attend their children long enough time to be positive role models, sexual, emotional and physical abuses are so prevalent unless we have a socio-cultural revolution in the whole world
all these problems will multiply. Let us start that revolution by having dialogues between different faiths and belief systems including those who do not believe in God.
Believing a superpower who can not be seen is extremely difficult. Even prophet Abraham and Moses wanted to see evidence of God. The religious infights, crimes committing in the name of God , terrorisims and violences committed using religious concepts
also are turnig people from faiths in God.
Materialism: We are not content with what we have and there is no amount of money or material to make many of us happy causing enormous turmoil. The haves seem to have more ways to have even more and contribute less to the society than the have nots. This is leading increase in income differences and their peril consequences.
We must consider on basic principles of marriage and family, truth, simplicity, humility, generosity etc in our core moral values to have peace and happiness in our lives. Proper enlightments will help everybody, rich and poor.
I would rather err on the side of faith than on the side of doubt.
- Robert Schuller
